Born and raised in Western Tennessee, Matthew C. Russell is a proud veteran of the United States Army who served as an Airborne Infantryman. During his enlistment, Matthew served in an Airborne Infantry Long Range Surveillance (LRS) Company in Germany and deployed with that unit to Iraq for a tour of combat in Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-2004). Matthew’s courage and dedication were evident through over sixty (60) combat missions, including surviving two ambushes. In recognition of his service in combat, he was honored with the Army Commendation Medal.
Upon returning from his military service, Matthew pursued his academic interests at the University of Memphis. There, he studied Political Science and English, showcasing his leadership qualities by being elected as the President of the Political Science Honors Society on campus. Matthew graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
Driven by a passion for justice, Matthew relocated to Oklahoma to attend law school. His commitment to excellence continued as he earned a place on the Dean’s List, Dean’s Honor Roll, and Faculty Honor Roll. Matthew’s academic prowess extended to his involvement with Law Review, and he was elected Vice President of the University’s honor society, Phi Delta Phi. He successfully obtained his law degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2010.
Matthew is admitted to practice in all Oklahoma state courts, demonstrating his commitment to serving the local community. Additionally, he holds admission to the Federal Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.
Beyond his legal practice, Matthew is an active member of the Enid Kiwanis Club, contributing to community development and service.
